Typecasting the Fourth Wing Characters

Casting the actors that I believe would kick-ass at portraying the beloved characters from the Empyrean series by Rebecca Yarros.

Some of the characters I immediately connected to certain actors, while some of them I had to do some research. Certain characters, like Ridoc, were easy for me to place because I had just watched Shadow and Bone on Netflix, so Kit Young was the first person I thought of. His character of Jesper in Shadow and Bone felt very similar to Ridoc’s character, both using humor to express themselves.

I paid close attention to the actors’ ages to be more authentic to the characters in the novels. Some of them are closer to accurate than others but overall I think these actors would kill it in the live-action version of the Empyrean series. Amazon Prime, take notes.

Obviously, this is all subjective and just for fun! If you have any ideas on who you would cast for these characters I would love to hear about it in the comments!

Also, beware of spoilers if you have yet to read these books but it is still on your TBR because I have a feeling this will spoil your fun while reading!

Violet Sorrengail

When fan-casting these characters, I definitely thought about who I would accept as my Violet or Xaden and I have come to the conclusion that choosing an actor for these two characters is too hard. But, I had some ideas when it came to Violet. My top 2 choices are Emma Myers and Kiernan Shipka. And Xaden… I don’t want to humanize him.

Mira Sorrengail

Dye this queen’s hair and we are off to the races, Florence Pugh is my PERFECT casting for Mira Sorrengail. She’s hot, she’s strong, she’s a badass, what more could you need?

Rhiannon Matthias

Yara Shahidi is my Minnesotan QUEEN! I think that she would kill it as Rhiannon Matthias. Rhiannon is fiercely loyal, a strong fighter, and a bit of a free spirit. I would love to see Shahidi take on this role and see what she does with it!

Jack Barlowe

I’m ready for Rudy Pankow to step into his villain era. I can 100% see him throwing people off of the parapet, and later with his red Venin eyes. I think Pankow could have a lot of fun with this role.

Sawyer Hendrick

I am going to be honest, this one was the hardest for me. I think Ross Lynch could be a great cast for Sawyer’s character, he is humorous and hot – what more could you need from Sawyer Hendrick?

Jesinia Neilwart

Isabel Merced is my queen, I’m obsessed with her in Instant Family and Madame Web. She gives off strong women energy just like Jesinia and also knowledge makes you hot.

Liam Mairi

This was my second instant connection. I don’t even want to talk about it. I loved The Darkest Minds series by Alexandra Bracken and thought of Harris Dickinson immediately because he played Liam Stewart in the movie adaptation. Liam Mairi’s sweet nature and protectiveness only solidified this pairing. I’m still sad.

Imogen Cardulo

This one was hard because I wanted someone with a really tough exterior and I can fully imagine Hailee Steinfeld with a half buzzed pink haircut, breaking bones and taking names. I think Steinfeld could bring the badass energy Imogen’s character gives off.

Brennan Sorrengail

I don’t really have a good reasoning behind this one other than it just felt right. Hot older brother vibes.

Garrick Tavis

10/10 would recommend Trevor Jackson for Garrick Tavis. He plays Yara Shahidi’s significant other in Grownish and I love those two together. Also, I mean just look how big this man is, I can just imagine the girls ogling him in the gym.

Bodhi Durran

The younger and funnier version of Xaden, I think David Iacono is a pretty accurate pick for Bodhi Durran. I’ve really only seen him in The Summer I Turned Pretty but I think it would be fun to see him in a rider’s uniform.

Aaric Graycastle

If you have seen Fate: The Winx Saga on Netflix, then you’ll understand that Danny Griffin understands the assignment of being a badass prince. Also, he’s hot.
